The Pouilly Fumé from Chateau De Tracy is a wine produced in the Loire Valley with Sauvignon Blanc, the region's flagship grape variety. In this area, Sauvignon expresses itself with a particular elegance, finesse, with a very subtle and delicate aromatic component, always accompanied by the classic mineral and savory notes of limestone and silica soils. The wines of Pouilly Fumé have always been unattainable models for anyone who decides to try cultivating and vinifying Sauvignon Blanc and are unanimously considered among the most classy and charming whites in the world.
The Pouilly Fumé wine originates from a family domaine located near the village of Tracy-sur-Loire. The estate covers an area of about thirty hectares, divided into different parcels characterized by microclimates and different soils. The work in the vineyard is set up precisely to allow the only cultivated grape variety, Sauvignon Blanc, to express itself differently according to the composition of the soils and thus produce labels that perfectly represent the place of origin.
The grapes come from vineyards exposed to the southwest, which are located on two different types of soils: silex and kimmeridgian limestone. The first gives the wine a good structure and pronounced aromas, while the second provides elegance and aromatic richness. The blending of grapes with different characteristics allows for a wine with greater complexity and tasting depth. The Sauvignon Blanc Pouilly Fumé from Chateau De Tracy is made from grapes harvested at full ripeness and with a selection in the vineyard of only the best bunches. Each parcel is vinified separately, allowing for the creation of a balanced and harmonious cuvée. Before bottling, the wines rest on their own yeasts in steel tanks with periodic batonnage. In the glass, it presents a straw yellow color with slight greenish reflections. The bouquet opens with elegant aromas of blackcurrant, boxwood, herbal notes, balsamic hints, citrus aromas, and hints of tropical fruit. The sip is sleek and taut, with an expressive fruit center, announcing a long finish of clear citrus freshness and mineral.
