The Primitivo di Manduria Dolce Naturale “Albiria” by De Quarto is a wine from Salento, one of Italy's prized sweet reds. De Quarto, with its wines, pays homage to the culture of its land: ‘Albiria’ was a Countess who ruled over this part of Puglia. On the nose, one can perceive notes of candied red fruit, in jam, along with typical sweet hints like cocoa. On the palate, the intense sweetness is balanced by great aromaticity, body, and warmth. Perfect paired with blue cheeses or to accompany desserts. Try it with chocolate!

The Primitivo di Manduria Dolce Naturale ‘Albiria’ from the De Quarto production company is an interpretation of the enveloping sweetness of the most representative grape variety of the Manduria area. The producer Antonio De Quarto manages 20 hectares of vineyards in Lizzano, about twenty kilometers southeast of the city of Taranto, based on several foundations such as high planting densities, the Apulian bush training method, very low yields per hectare, and the adoption of non-invasive vinification techniques. The name of this label is linked to the name of Countess Albiria, daughter of the Norman King Tancredi, who according to some sources built the farmhouse in Lizzano in 1208.

‘Albiria’ Primitivo di Manduria Dolce Naturale by Antonio De Quarto is a 100% Primitivo from vines trained in the Apulian bush method on calcareous red soils, without the use of pesticides and chemical herbicides. The grapes are hand-harvested at the end of September in a state of withering and are then vinified in red with spontaneous alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks.stainless steel at controlled temperature, associated with 8 days of maceration on the skins. The subsequent aging phase also takes place in steel, and the wine is finally bottled with a high percentage of natural residual sugars.

The color of the Primitivo di Manduria Dolce Naturale De Quarto ‘Albiria’ is a consistent ruby red with violet reflections. The aromatic spectrum opens up to mature perceptions of candied cherry, strawberry jam, and raisins, combined with complex hints of cocoa and tobacco. Soft and very sweet on the palate, with a full body and fine tannins that lead to a persistent finish with intense fruity sensations. This is a sweet wine that can beautifully accompany desserts like berry tarts.
