The Primitivo di Manduria Reserve of Doppio Passo is a soft, warm, and sunny red wine that is aged for 24 months, of which 9 in wooden barrels. On the nose, it has aromas of spirit-soaked cherry, ethereal sensations, sweet spices, vanilla, and a hint of Mediterranean scrub. The taste is rich, round, and broad, with great enveloping and very long persistence.
The Primitivo di Manduria Riserva Doppio Passo is an intense and structured red, with a very soft and seductive profile. A perfect interpreter of the warm and Mediterranean face of the land of Puglia, it is made with the symbolic grape variety of the Manduria area. The richness and aromatic density of the grapes give sweet notes of ripe red fruit, well integrated with elegant tertiary nuances, derived from aging in wood, which increase its expressive complexity. It is a great gastronomic wine, enveloping and satisfying, that pairs very well with grilled meats, beef roasts, and game on the spit.
The Primitivo di Manduria Riserva wine is born in the Doppio Passo estate, which is part of the important Veneto Group Botter, owner of estates in various Italian regions. The vineyards are located in the municipality of Salice Salentino and cover a total area of 1,500 hectares. The climate is warm and dry, mitigated only by the sea breeze. The soils are mainly composed of clays and sands, resting on deep limestone substrates. Once the harvest is finished, the best bunches are destemmed and the grapes are subjected to a prefermentative maceration at a temperature of about 12 °C. The winemaking then proceeds in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, with a maceration period on the skins of two to three weeks. The wine matures for a total period of 24 months, of which at least 9 are spent in wooden barrels.
The red Primitivo di Manduria Riserva Doppio Passo is perfect for those who love soft and fruity wines, intense and pleasantly satisfying. It presents itself in the glass with a beautiful dark ruby red with bright purple reflections. Wide and rich, it releases exuberant aromas of ripe fruit, particularly red-fleshed plum, blackberry, blackcurrant, spirit-soaked sour cherry, soft spices, vanilla, toasted hints, dark chocolate, bitter cocoa, and light woody nuances. On the palate, it is warm with a smooth sip, very rich and aromatically dense, wrapped in a velvety tannic texture, leading to a harmonious, long, and very persistent finish.
