Primitivo Rosato 'Petruscio' Marco Ludovico 2023
ArtisanalThe Primitivo Rosé "Petruscio" from the Marco Ludovico winery expresses the scents and aromas of Puglia in a delicate and enjoyable way. An authentic label made using only indigenous yeasts and aged in steel for 7 months. The color is intense rosé with red hues reminiscent of pomegranate colors, the aromas released are of crisp red berry fruit, strawberry, raspberry, and fresh wildflowers. The sip is agile, mineral, savory, and has an excellent aromatic balance finish.
"Petruscio" is a version of Primitivo in pink with a fresh, gentle profile and a clear vein of sapidity. The Primitivo Rosé is a fresh addition to the range of wines by Marco Ludovico and takes its name from the gravina of Mottola and its rock village. Ludovico Marco defines himself as an eno-artisan in the land of the gravine. He has followed a linear path of studies and experiences in wineries around the world, marked by a passion for viticulture that spans three generations. Thus, he approaches wine, closely following every process, often experimenting in this area, giving life to unexpectedly new and territorial wines.
Marco Ludovico cultivates local grapes such as Fiano Minutolo, Verdeca, and Primitivo, hand in hand with Trebbiano and Sangiovese. Petruscio comes from very calcareous soils in the Matine area. The grapes are harvested to make a short passage on the skins, without the classic technique of the Apulian saignée. As in his labels, where profiles drawn from only berries and leaves appear, in the vineyard and in the cellar, the man intervenes little.in the process that the grape undergoes to become wine. Among the rows, no chemicals, little copper and sulfur, the harvest is manual in perforated boxes of 15 kg and the fermentation processes occur spontaneously, without industrial selections.
Breaking open a pomegranate, one stains their fingers with a lively rosé, thus revealing the Petruscio. Beautiful is the intense color that heralds aromas of raspberries, currants, and wildflowers. The sip is sapid, long, and aromatic. The floral note enhances the pleasure, inviting to sip. It is very versatile in pairing, complex and fresh. It pairs well with cured meat appetizers, as well as raw fish, which even in its smoked version brings joy.
