Riesling Pratello 2023

The Riesling from the Pratello estate is a Lombard white wine that stands out for its vibrant freshness and minerality, qualities characteristic of the grape variety. To demonstrate how much the Pratello family cares about the health of the environment, in 2016 the estate began adopting a processing protocol called “Idea Pratello”, which includes, in addition to the exclusion of harmful chemical products in the vineyard, a series of goals to pursue, including: the use of energy from renewable sources, the total elimination of copper use, the reduction of sulfites in the wines, ecological compensation, energy efficiency of the vineyards, and synergy between animals and plants.

Pratello Riesling originates from only grapes of the same-named white variety grown in 45-year-old vineyards, planted in the morainic soils surrounding Lake Garda and cultivated using sustainable agronomic practices. After manual harvesting, the whole clusters are softly pressed in a nitrogen-saturated environment, in order to prevent oxidative phenomena, and subsequently the alcoholic fermentation of the must for 15-20 days in stainless steel tanks. Also in steel, the maturation phase of 5 months takes place, followed by an additional 4 months of resting in the bottle before final commercialization.

Brilliant straw yellow is the color of the Riesling from the Pratello winery, which on the nose expresses inviting perceptions of Mediterranean herbs, white-fleshed fruit, citrus, tropical fruit, and jasmine flowers. The olfactory context is completed by hydrocarbon notes that will become increasingly intense with the aging of the wine. Savory, fresh, and vertical is the progression on the palate, very smooth and slender, with a characteristic straight and mineral finish that resonates in the aftertaste.
