The Rosé from Salento is the historic and most representative label of the Rosa del Golfo winery, a benchmark of the type, produced mainly from Negroamaro grapes with vinification in steel. Fragrant aromas of red flowers, roses and wild strawberries accompany a soft and round sip, fresh, fruity and flavorful

The Rosato del Salento from the Rosa del Golfo winery is one of the most iconic and paradigmatic rosé wines in Italy, not only for its long history dating back to 1964 but also for its ability to garner appreciation over time from multiple generations in the name of modern quality viticulture in Puglia and the enhancement of the rosé type. It was born from the far-sighted and pioneering spirit of the young winemaker Mino Calò during the 1960s, thanks also to the collaboration with the oenologist Angelo Solci, who developed innovative systems to achieve unprecedented aromatic cleanliness. Luigi Veronelli was one of the first admirers of this rosé and praised it in a memorable review published in the weekly Panorama in 1974. When Mino Calò passed away in 1998, it was the famous critic and gastronomist who convinced his son Damiano to take the reins of the winery and continue producing this label during a long phone call that became legendary, in which among other things, he said: “The rosé is neither meat nor fish, it is true. It is a seafood fruit.”.

This historic and authentic expression of Salento is born from the reinterpretation of the bleeding winemaking system, with skin maceration in the must for about 24 hours, in order to obtain an intense chromatic tone and a rich taste-olfactory profile. Low yields in the vineyard, extreme cleanliness in the winemaking facilities, and a modern and avant-garde refrigeration and air conditioning system, inaugurated as early as 1980, are the basis of the production method. The refrigeration of the must allows for avoiding clarifications and the temperature control during winemaking ensures an impeccable aromatic clarity. Consistent with this vision, today the winery is equipped with a pioneering computer system that automatically maintains constant temperatures at every stage, from grape crushing to bottling.

The Rosa del Golfo Rosato del Salento is loved all over the world for its eternally young spirit, which remains today, after over 50
