Organic and biodynamic"Primo Fuoco" is a Tuscan rosé wine made from Merlot grapes of great authenticity and purity, resulting from spontaneous vinification and aging in large terracotta amphorae, handmade with local red clay, known as "terra rossa". It expresses a very fine and fragrant aromatic profile, developed on citrus, fruity, and floral notes, with pleasant rustic accents of earth and underbrush. On the palate, it shows excellent drinkability and a lively freshness, with a pleasant savory matrix
Fattoria di Sammontana presents the Rosato ‘Primo Fuoco’, a Tuscan interpretation of Merlot vinified in amphora that is able to brighten the spirit with its lightness and smoothness. Officially founded in 1867, this winery in the Fiorentino area was once owned by the renowned Medici family, who donated it to the canons of San Lorenzo. The priests, among other things, built a majestic furnace intended for the production of vases and other terracotta materials. With the expression “primo fuoco,” potters refer to the initial firing of the clay that leads to the formation of terracotta. This name was chosen in reference to the fact that this rosé wine is worked in a large handmade amphora using a local type of red clay known as “terra rossa.”
The Tuscan Rosato ‘Primo Fuoco’ by Fattoria di Sammontana is a 100% Merlot grown in a half-hectare vineyard that hosts 20-year-old vines. The agronomic management follows the principles of certified organic agriculture and biodynamic practices. The manual harvest is followed by the soft pressing of the grapes and the alcoholic fermentation carried out exclusively by indigenous yeasts. The mass is then elevated for 6 months in 500-liter terracotta amphorae, at the end of which the liquid is bottled without prior filtration.
