Salice Salentino 'Maiana' Leone de Castris 2023
Perfect to drink every dayThe Salice Salentino "Maiana" is a red wine with a fruity character and an excellent quality/price ratio, aged in oak barrels for 6 months. An aromatic profile of berries, sour cherries, spices, and licorice unfolds in a soft, velvety, and round sip, with light tannins in the finish.
The Salice Salentino “Maiana” is a wine that embodies the magic and beauty of one of the most beautiful terroirs in Puglia, Salento. It is a red where Negroamaro, present in the final blend with 90%, and Malvasia Nera come together elegantly, giving rise to a range of predominantly fruity notes on the nose, a prelude to a soft and smooth sip. A bottle signed by Leone de Castris pleasant to uncork now, but that can further age for three or four years, always guaranteeing a quality drink.
The “Maiana” Salice Salentino is a wine that comes from a blend dominated by one of the most representative red grape varieties of the entire Puglian wine scene, Negroamaro. Alongside this variety, we also find a small percentage of Malvasia Nera. The vines, whose age is around 30 years, grow with the bush vine system, in vineyards characterized by medium-textured soil. The bunches are destemmed, and the must obtained from the pressing of the grapes ferments in steel containers at a temperature which is kept constantly under control. Finally, the aging process continues, during which the wine rests for 6 months in oak barrels.
This Salice Salentino "Maiana" presents itself with a deep and concentrated ruby red color. Decidedly fruity on the nose, which gradually gives way to lighter notes of licorice and spices. On the palate, it has a light to medium body, with a broad and round sip that fills the mouth with fullness thanks to a tasty drink, where the tannins are finely integrated into the overall structure. A bottle signed by the Leone de Castris winery that comes at a decidedly interesting final price.
