Sancerre Lucien Crochet 2023

The Sancerre from the Lucien Crochet winery is a fresh and elegant white wine produced in the Loire Valley, a French region also known by the nickname “Garden of France”. The Sancerre from Crochet is made from pure Sauvignon Blanc grapes sourced from vineyards located on hills characterized by Kimmeridgian soils with calcareous-clay rocks that give this white a good structure and great minerality. The winery, which owns about 35 hectares of vineyards, most of which are cultivated with Sauvignon Blanc, is now managed by the third generation that is always attentive to experimenting with new cuvées and represents one of the largest realities, in terms of size, of the Sancerre appellation.

The Sancerre from Crochet is produced from carefully selected and hand-harvested grapes, whose whole bunches, brought to the winery, are separated from the skins using a pneumatic press that gently crushes the berries. The must obtained is subjected to cold decantation for about 24 hours at a temperature of 6°C in stainless steel containers to allow any sediments to settle. At this point, alcoholic fermentation takes place, which occurs at controlled temperature in stainless steel containers. After about a year from the harvest, the wine, first filtered and then bottled, is finally ready to be marketed.

The Sancerre from Lucien Crochet presents itself with a pale straw yellow color, with aromas of ripe white fruit and stone fruit on the nose, including melon and apricot, floral scents, including elderflower, finishing with mineral notes of flint and aromatic herbs reminiscent of sage. On the palate, it is very fresh and vertical, with chalky notes that recall the terroir from which it comes, mixed with notes of elderflower and apricot.
