The Sangiovese "Badilante" from Podere 414 is a red wine dedicated to the memory of the people who have tilled, over the course of the seasons, the lands that traverse Maremma: the badilanti. These tireless workers have traversed, with great consistency and intensity, these challenging areas of Tuscany, moving with respect and making available to man a few cultivable plots.
The Sangiovese vines are cultivated with the criterion of high planting density and are located 230 meters above sea level, on clayey soils rich in skeleton. The organic cultivation adopted by the winery is a form of respect, as well as environmental, that projects itself in the wake of the arduous work done by the badilanti, continuing to preserve the area and its different rural nuances. The winemaking begins with the spontaneous fermentation of the must in temperature-controlled concrete tanks; the maceration on the skins lasts a total of 15-18 days, alternating delestage and manual remontages. The wine is aged in concrete tanks and 5 hectoliter oak tonneaux.
The Sangiovese "Il Badilante" colors the glass with an intense ruby red. On the nose, it expresses itself on fruity wavelengths, with hints of spicy aromas, all on precious nuances of wood. On the palate, it reveals a medium structure, round, with fine and subtle tannins, of good taste pleasure to elevate the drink. From a harsh territory, which requires different efforts, a generous and elegant wine.
