Sof Rosé' Lodovico Antinori 2023
The "Sof Rosé" Lodovico Antinori from Tenuta di Biserno is a fresh rosé with a very pleasant coppery color. Produced in the Maremma estate of the Antinori family, it is a product strongly desired by Sophia Antinori and conceived together with winemaker Helena Lindberg. On the nose, hints of red currant are perceived, then jasmine and linden, and fruit like apple. Pleasantly delicate, elegant, a good freshness leads to a savory finish. A versatile wine to drink in summer, perhaps with fried fish or to accompany the early stages of a barbecue.
The ‘Sof Rosé’ Lodovico Antinori is a fragrant and pleasant Tuscan rosé wine. We are in the Bibbona area, in Maremma Toscana, where the famous winery Tenuta di Biserno manages two distinct brands: Tenuta di Biserno itself and Lodovico Antinori. Behind the creation of this label is the mind of Sophia Antinori, the young daughter of the Marquis Lodovico Antinori, who, together with Helena Lindberg, the oenologist of Tenuta di Biserno, has conceived a wine inspired by the great Provençal rosés. The reference to Provence also emerges from the packaging, which consists of a satin-finished amphora-shaped bottle.
Tenuta di Biserno Lodovico Antinori ‘Sof Rosé’ comes from a blend of 60-40% respectively of Syrah and Cabernet Franc, grown on sandy-loam soils near the Tyrrhenian coast. The manual harvest is accompanied by a strict selection of the bunches, which are then gently pressed, with the resulting must undergoing a brief and careful maceration on the skins. In fact, Sophia and Lodovico Antinori attribute a very important value to the final color of the wine, which must be an inviting coppery pink. The subsequent alcoholic fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, where the mass remains to mature for a period of 5-6 months before bottling.
The Tuscan rosé wine Lodovico Antinori ‘Sof Rosé’ has a lovely peach pink hue with coppery reflections. The nose offers fragrant notes of white flowers like jasmine and white fruit like pear, followed by mineral hints and memories of currant, wild strawberry, and almond. On the palate, it is tense and balanced, with a remarkable fresh-salty verve that leads to an elegant and persistent finish.
