"Quattrocento" by Nicola Gatta is a Classic Method Sparkling Wine which ages on the lees for 40 months / moons. It reveals a frank and fragrant olfactory profile, in which sensations of cedar, lemons, acacia flowers and hints of almond are recognized. The sip is tense, vibrant and slender, with a sharp freshness and a pleasant flavor.

The Spumante Metodo Classico Extra Brut “Quattrocento 40 Lune” impresses with its vitality and tasting dynamics, and it is perhaps the most carefree compromise among Nicola's wines in combining irresistible drinkability with the inevitable complexity that characterizes his liquids. Another gem from the giant of Gussago, a nickname we assign to Nicola without hesitation not only for his physical attributes but also for the stature of his wines, one better than the other. Rightly become an indispensable reference point for enthusiasts of artisanal wines, Nicola works following a few simple rules, from the care of the vineyard without any chemical or synthetic additives, to the ripeness of the fruit, continuing with spontaneous fermentations of the base wines, avoiding clarifications or filtrations. The area of Franciacorta without filters, of bold expressiveness.

The “Quattrocento 40 Lune” is a sparkling wine obtained from a blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Nero, with grapes cultivated in Gussago following a sustainable philosophy that adheres to the principles of biodynamics. In the cellar, after harvesting of the grapes with obsessive attention to ripeness, we proceed with spontaneous alcoholic fermentation on the base wines that are not filtered or clarified. Refermentation in the bottle and long aging on the lees is about 40 months.

The Extra Brut “Quattrocento 40 Lune” presents itself in the glass with a fairly intense straw-yellow color and the usual fine and persistent bubble. Among Nicola's wines, it perhaps marks the median between compulsive drinkability and depth, with notes on the nose of talc, acacia, and citrus peel. The sip is full but at the same time very slender and lively, dynamic even in evolution if tasted again multiple times. Flesh, freshness, salty length: does one need to add more?
