Taurasi Feudi di San Gregorio 2020
The Taurasi by Feudi di San Gregorio is a full-bodied and intense Irpinian red wine, aged for 18 months in barrique and 9 months in bottle. Warm, balanced, and with soft tannins on the palate. Engaging on the nose with sensations of forest fruits, balsamic licorice, and leather
The Taurasi from Feudi Di San Gregorio is a harmonious and territorial expression of all the potential that Aglianico can offer when cultivated with respect and knowledge. Important qualities that have been evident since 1986, the year the winery was founded, which has not only produced wines that stand out for their consistency and quality level but has also established itself as one of the top enological references of Campania, significantly contributing to the wine development of the region.
The Feudi Di San Gregorio Taurasi is a wine of volcanic origin, and the soil on which the vines are planted imparts a deep mineral imprint to the liquid. The vineyards are located between 350 and 700 meters in altitude, cultivated with respect for the environment and biodiversity. After a careful selection of the best bunches, fermentation and maceration take place in steel tanks for about 3-4 weeks. The aging occurs in medium-toasted French oak barriques for about 18 months, followed by a bottle aging of about six months. The passage in small wooden barrels, in addition to expanding the wine's profile, is functional in softening and smoothing the youthful exuberance of Aglianico.
The Taurasi Feudi di San Gregorio wine boasts a vibrant ruby red color. On the nose, the classic aromatic profile of the grape emerges, consisting of plum and black pepper, enriched with spicy hints of cinnamon and clove. A powerful yet extremely balanced sip, thanks to a well-calibrated softness and a tannin that is already sweet and mature. The long persistence recalls juicy dishes, such as a braised Aglianico, for a great territorial pairing. A wine of substance, yet it knows how to be appreciated for its drinkability. Versatile.
