TAURASI RISERVA 'RADICI' MASTROBERARDINO 2016 DESCRIPTION

The Taurasi Riserva "Radici" from the Campania winery Mastrobernardino is an intense and deep red wine, born in the beautiful land of Irpinia. In the coolest and most continental area of Campania, Agliano expresses the best of its potential, with wines that manage to admirably combine elegance and power, aromatic richness and extraordinary longevity. It is these characteristics that make Taurasi one of the absolute most important reds of our peninsula, capable of giving great emotions. After a long aging in wood, which helps tame its youthful exuberance, Taurasi Riserva reveals an austere and refined charm, with scents of dried flowers, herbs, red fruits and spices. Its length and complexity of flavor recommend its pairing with stewed red meats or with some game.

Taurasi Riserva "Radici" is one of the most famous bottles from this important and great Irpinia winery. The Mastroberardino family has been involved in viticulture since the late 19th century and today manages a total of more than 250 hectares of vineyards in the Avellino area. Always faithful to the history and traditions of the area, she has had the great merit of believing in unsuspected times in the potential of the native grape varieties Aglianico, Fiano, Falanghina and Greco, with great consistency and tenacity. She has been among the most important figures in the rebirth of Southern Italian wine thanks to an unwavering commitment to a continuous search for quality. Her wines are an authentic expression of the best characteristics of the Irpinia territory, a synthesis of history, culture and passion.

Mastrobernardino's "Radici" Taurasi Riserva is a reference label for anyone with a desire to learn about the evolutionary potential of Aglianico. Born from the desire to create a great red capable of defying time, it is now a wine that has carved out the appreciation of the most demanding enthusiasts. At the end of the classic red vinification with maceration on the skins, the wine matures for 30 months in barriques and large oak barrels. It is ruby red in color with garnet hues. The nose expresses intense aromas of small berries, cherry, nuances of dried flowers, oriental spices and noble woods. The sip is deep, long, with lively tannins and a center of  good complexity on the palate. The finish is fresh and savory, with a return on spicy sensations.
