Trebbiano d'Abruzzo La Valentina 2024
Organic and biodynamicThe Trebbiano d'Abruzzo from La Valentina is an Abruzzese white wine with a refreshing and smooth sensory profile aged for a few months in stainless steel barrels. It presents a brilliant straw yellow and expresses a typical bouquet of apple pulp, citrus zest, hay, and wildflowers, while on the palate it is delicate, fresh, and informal, with persistent savoriness.
The Trebbiano d'Abruzzo La Valentina is a breath of Abruzzo in the glass, uncompromising in the middle. The winery, managed by Sabatino, Roberto, and Andrea di Properzio, works 55 hectares of vineyards and firmly carries forward the idea of sustainable agriculture: interventions are limited to those that are essential, treatments are completely natural, and integrated biological pest control is used between the rows, utilizing manure and the green manure technique as fertilizers. The study and research on the soils have led and continue to lead to the enhancement of native grape varieties in the most suitable environment, respecting the terroir and all the other elements that contribute to producing healthy grapes that best express their potential.
La Valentina Trebbiano d'Abruzzo comes from grapes that are hand-picked from 5 hectares scattered between San Valentino, Spoltore, and Alanno, all located in the hilly territory of Pescara, fundamentally clayey. The harvest usually takes place between late August and early September, with a careful selection of the best healthy bunches directly in the vineyard, where the vines are between 25 and 35 years old. The grapes are then destemmed and undergo a soft pressing, the fermentation at low temperatures takes place in steel tanks, where the final aging also continues.
Trebbiano d'Abruzzo La Valentina is a straightforward white, already from the color: a delicate and transparent straw yellow. Once poured into the glass, clear and distinct fruity aromas of mealy and sweet apple flesh intertwined with the acidic and intense notes of citrus come to the nose. Completing the olfactory bouquet are hints of dried grass and delicate field flowers. When tasted, the immediate perception is of freshness and pleasantness given by the light sapidity that completes the balance, with a deep finish of aromatic herbs. Never has a quote been more appropriate for this Trebbiano than this one by Paolo Coelho: "the simplest things are the most extraordinary, and only a wise person can see them".
