Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico Superiore 'Dominè' Pievalta 2022

The Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi “Dominè” by Pievalta is vibrant, capable of sharpening the attention of those who taste it. The nose is indeed enveloped by a whirlwind of notes that does not leave the enthusiast indifferent, outlining a exuberant and concrete personality. On the palate, one encounters a liquid energy that leverages the typical minerality of the DOC. The “Dominè” is a Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico Superiore that comes from grapes cultivated by the Pievalta winery in parcels characterized by a subsoil rich in clay and limestone. The yield per hectare never exceeds 60 quintals, and organic and biodynamic farming practices are followed between the rows. The grapes are pressed directly without the clusters being destemmed, and a quarter of the obtained must ferments in stainless steel containers, while the remaining must macerates for 7 days on the skins.  The wine has a complex maturation: it first matures for 19 months partly in steel tanks, in part in cement and a small part of the total mass rests in large barrels, then further refines for 6 months after bottling. The blending process follows, and the wine is thus ready to be bottled and marketed.

This Verdicchio “Dominè” by Pievalta announces itself to the eye with a bright amber yellow color. The nose is teeming with different scents and notes, without causing confusion, rather delighting the sense of smell with a multitude of sensations that range from intense fruitiness to briny, from almond to mineral. On the palate, it is full-bodied, with a energetic and vital sip that pulses on the palate thanks to a pronounced savory vein. It finishes with an excellent persistent finish. A bottle that is one of the most beautiful expressions achieved by the Pievalta winery in the terroir of Castelli di Jesi.
