The “Vinosauro” from Tenuta San Marcello is a complex and deep expression of Trebbiano vinified in Georgian amphorae, which impresses with its expressive spontaneity. The project at Tenuta San Marcello, while referring to a rather young reality, started with clear ideas, passion, and sensitivity, fundamental requirements for those like Massimo Palmieri and Pascale Marquet who approach the vineyard aiming to obtain identity-driven and characterful expressions. Approximately 4 hectares of vines, immersed in a suggestive natural setting not far from Ancona, where the indigenous grape varieties of tradition such as Verdicchio, Trebbiano, and Lacrima, the latter known for its bold aromaticity, obviously find space. In the vineyard, there is no use of chemical and synthetic substances, relying instead on natural preparations to enhance the vitality of the soil, and this attitude is confirmed by an equally respectful approach in the winery. The white “Vinosauro” is a pure expression of Trebbiano, the latest novelty from the delightful Marche reality. The idea of experimenting with vinification in Georgian amphorae is not casual, and the idea of bottling a focused yet rich in expressiveness liquid is supported by the talented hands in the winery of Massimo and Pascale. In addition to the use of Qvevri, during vinification the liquid remains in contact with its own skins, thus obtaining a great intensity and definition orange wine.
The “Vinosauro” San Marcello presents itself in the glass with an intense yellow color that shifts towards amber. A rich and articulated nose, ranging from hints of candied fruit to oriental spices, from acacia honey to toasted almond. The sip is full, juicy, and enlivened by a pleasant tannic friction, which significantly enhances the possibilities of the liquid also from a gastronomic perspective. Well-rounded.
