Chateau Michelet
On the right bank of the Dordogne River, within the Bordeaux wine zone of Libournais, the Chateau Michelet reality operates, the creator of a small production focused on quality. The Chateau is located precisely in the Lussac-Saint Emilion area, an area where Serge Coudroy, the current owner of Chateau Michelet, skilfully nurtures the family's winemaking tradition. Indeed, the Coudroys settled in the area as early as the 16th century, although the estate was officially born in the early 1970s with Serge himself, who started with just 4 hectares of uncultivated land. In the decades that followed, numerous vineyards were planted, leading to a total extension of 32 hectares in the year 2000. With Serge's son Antoine Coudroy joining the cellar, the new plantings continued while the estate's agronomic approach has moved towards greater environmental sustainability. Today, Chateau Michelet has plots in the renowned areas of Puisseguin-Saint Emilion, Lussac-Saint Emilion and Bordeaux.
The Bordeaux estate Chateau Michelet grows the traditional black grape varieties of the region, namely Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, varieties cultivated on clay and limestone soils characterised by anexcellent south-westerly exposure that contributes to the optimal ripening of the grapes. Moreover, the rows, spread over more than 50 hectares, benefit from the climate strongly influenced by the proximity to the Atlantic Ocean, with mild winters and cool summers. After the harvest, carried out respecting the ripening time of each grape variety, the grapes are transported to the cellar, where temperature-controlled alcoholic fermentation takes place in special stainless steel tanks. In order to respect the attributes of the terroir and the grapes as much as possible, the subsequent maturation phase also takes place in steel, containers in which the wine remains for several months until final bottling.
Among the most representative labels of the Chateau Michelet cellar is the Bordeaux Rouge, a Bordeaux blend rich in fruity aromas and balsamic and vegetal hints typical of the original vines. By virtue of its exceptional price-quality ratio and its remarkable accessibility, this label can be appreciated by novices as well as seasoned wine enthusiasts.
