Castello Tricerchi is a winery in the prestigious district of Montalcino dedicated to the development of Sangiovese in the traditional style, with long maceration and ageing in large casks. The headquarters of the winery is the medieval castle of the same name, built on the Via Francigena back in 1441 by the Tricerchi, a renowned Sienese noble family that continued and completed the building work begun by the Altesi family. Today the castle, declared part of Italy's historical-artistic heritage, is managed by the Squarcia family, direct descendants of the Tricerchi family. In particular, it is Emanuele and the young Tommaso Squarcia who run the family business, preserving the link with tradition. Particularly impressive are the ageing rooms, created through the renovation of the castle's ancient dungeons, where the wines can rest at a constant and optimal temperature all year round.

The Castello Tricerchi property extends over no less than 400 hectares on the northern side of Montalcino. Of these, 13 hectares are reserved for Sangiovese Grosso, the territory's emblematic varietal, cultivated by the Squarcia family at an altitude between 250 and 290 metres above sea level in an area characterised by significant temperature swings between day and night. The soil is made up of calcareous clays and sand, while the prevailing exposure of the vineyards is north and west. In the cellar, fermentation is entrusted to indigenous yeasts and is accompanied by prolonged periods of contact between the must and the skins. In accordance with tradition, only large Slavonian oak barrels are used for ageing, containers that enhance the extraordinary qualities of Sangiovese.

The production of the Ilcinese company Castello Tricerchi revolves around the two declinations of Sangiovese di Montalcino: Brunello and Rosso di Montalcino. The estate's interpretation emphasises the elegance and intensity of the wines of the area, with the structure and freshness typical of the grape variety. These qualities also contribute to the exceptional longevity of the wine, especially the Brunello di Montalcino.
