Borgogno e Carbone
The Borgogno e Carbone winery represents a small artisanal treasure nestled in the hills of Verduno, in the Barolo area. At the helm of the winery are Fabrizio Borgogno and Stefano Carbone, passionate and inseparable friends who together also run the well-known More & Macine tavern in La Morra and an import company for French wines. The idea of producing wine is the result of the boundless love for the world of wine that Fabrizio and Stefano nurture, a factor that, added to the vineyards that Fabrizio's family has been cultivating for generations, has given life to this beautiful project born in 2019. The first two vintages, produced in very limited quantities, were reserved exclusively for serving at More & Macine, where they met with great success. However, the duo's very limited production makes their labels still not easy to find.
The fulcrum of Fabrizio Borgogno and Stefano Carbone's varietal platform is Nebbiolo, a noble Langa variety that the two friends cultivate in the territories of Verduno and Monforte d'Alba. The vineyards, some of which are very old, are planted on sandy-clay-limestone soils at an altitude of between 300 and 400 metres above sea level. All processing, including harvesting of course, is carried out by hand, the same artisanal approach adopted in the cellar, where fermentation takes place entirely spontaneously in stainless steel tanks thanks to the intervention only of indigenous yeasts. The subsequent ageing phase takes place in large oak barrels, seeking a minimal impact of wood on the wine. The entire production process then excludes any invasive oenological operations, with the utmost respect for the purest characteristics of the territory.
The Borgogno e Carbone reality is therefore the protagonist of a small but fine production, capable of highlighting the most genuine Langa essence. With the 2020 harvest, Fabrizio and Stefano also inaugurated their Barolo 'Perno Vigna Santo Stefano', a traditional and elegant expression of the Monforte d'Alba territory.
