3 Fonteinen
3 Fonteinen, or Tre Fontane, is a famous Belgian brewery located in the Flemish town of Berseel, about ten kilometers south of the capital Brussels. It is well-known for its high-quality artisanal production, inspired by the oldest traditions of a land that has been at the top of the European brewing elite for centuries. The name of the brewery refers to the ancient local custom of using machinery with three different pumps, each dedicated to tapping a different type of beer. The origins of the brewery are very old and date back to the end of the 19th century; however, the current management began in the early '60s when Gaston Debelder decided to purchase the facility.
At the beginning of its activity, 3 Fonteinen was a brewery famous for its ability to create excellent blends, especially of Lambic. Thanks to considerable experience and a particular tasting talent, Gaston Debeler has always managed to assemble different beers with excellent results final, creating very balanced and harmonious labels. A skill that has made the brewery a reference point for all enthusiasts of the Lambic type. The real turning point occurred towards the end of the '90s, with the start of its own production. In about ten years, 3 Fonteinen established itself for its constant quality, also thanks to modernization and renewal of the plants, which led to a gradual improvement in the quality of the beers.
Today, 3 Fonteinen has carved out a prominent place in the landscape of Belgian beer and is particularly loved by enthusiasts who appreciate its fidelity to local traditions. The production ensures an excellent quality level, with the classic Lambics in the foreground, a style of beer among the most popular and ancient in Belgium. These are beers made with spontaneous fermentation processes, characterized by a slightly sour taste, which constitutes a sort of trademark. For this reason, they are often aged in wood, in order to soften some of the youthful edges and make them smoother and more harmonious.
