The charming and dark name Abate Nero, from the italian "black abbot", evokes the figure of the father of Champagne, the celebrate French monk Dom Perignon with his dark cassock. In fact, the founders of the Abate Nero winery, Eugenio de Castel Terlago and the winemaker Luciano Lunelli (protagonist of the enhancement of Teroldego) are inspired by his extraordinary inventionIn 1973, they decided to join forces to realize the dream of creating an extraordinary sparkling wine in Trentino with the aim of making it a reference point for the production of Trento DOC. Since that date, winding and difficult roads have been travelled; effort, research and commitment have marked the journey of the two friends and today Abate Nero wines are considered a symbol of the territory and have written one of the most significant chapters in the history of Italian Classic Method bubbles.

The Abate Nero vineyards are rooted on particularly suitable and well exposed land on the hills above the hamlets of Trento and Lavis, in an area that we can categorize as "mountain". Cultivated with the classic system in Pergola Trentina, Chardonnay is the most common grape, followed by some parcels of Pinot Noir, the two vines that in Champagne are the raw material behind its prestigious recipe. Initially the processes of vinification and sparkling wine making of the grapes take place in the ancient cellars of Palazzo Schulthaus in Lavis, where the first Giulio Ferrari sparkling wines were made, but with the growth of production, it was necessary in 1980 to move the headquarters to Lamar di Gardolo.

Trento Abate Nero sparkling wines are born "from the idea of making wine with and out of passion, almost a challenge with themselves, and then guaranteeing pleasures to increasingly demanding consumers". Well structured and persistent, creamy and deep, with a very long stop on the lees, bubbles that have won vast acclaim from the public and critics of the sector, still maintaining the timeless charm of a handcrafted production, marked by high quality and attention to detail. Excellences of territory, symbolizing sparkling Italy in the world!
