Agricola Virà

Agricola Virà is a small artisanal reality from the generous and rich countryside of Palermo. We are located between the municipalities of Cefalù and Grattieri, in Contrada Suro, where the winery cultivates the native varieties of the area, such as Catarratto and Nero d’Avola, alongside international grapes like Sauvignon, Chardonnay, and Cabernet Sauvignon. Next to these small and wonderful 6 hectares of vineyards, there is also a large number of olive trees that blanket the hills, from which various types of olives flourish: Nocellare del Belice (60%), Biancolilla (30%), and Cerasuola (10%). Everything is cultivated in organic farming, fully respecting the environment and following the rhythms of nature. In addition to this extremely sensitive approach towards the plants, which translates into the use of only natural products, the territory certainly plays a leading role.

In fact, the vines of Agricola Virà are located at about 300 meters above sea level and their roots sink into clayey soils of medium texture, rich in nutrients, accumulated through the green manure technique. The vines overlook the sea, just a few kilometers away, and enjoy the fresh and beneficial breezes that rise from it. This way, the ripening of the grapes reaches an optimal level, ensuring in each berry a perfect balance between sugar concentration and acidity. In the winery, the same artisanal and genuine recipe is followed, aiming for non-interventionism. It follows that the fermentations are spontaneous and without temperature control, catalyzed by the indigenous yeasts naturally present on the skins. Additionally, no invasive processes are carried out on the wine, such as filtration, clarification, or massive addition of sulfites.

The wines of Agricola Virà breathe the Sicilian land and faithfully reflect its aspects and territorial nuances. The line offers dry whites or skin-contact whites with a lively and changing profile, characterized by a refreshing and marine sip, or Mediterranean reds that impress with their pleasant freshness. The bottles feature a beautiful photo of the vine leaf on the label, vine, a symbol that once again recalls the importance of nature!
