Amiot Servelle

The Domaine Amiot Servelle is located in Chambolle-Musigny, a famous village situated between Morey-Saint-Denis and Vougeot, in the heart of the Côte de Nuits. Burgundy represents not only one of the most prestigious French regions in the field of viticulture but also one of those that can boast the oldest traditions. Introduced by the Romans at the time of the conquest of Gaul, the vine has found in this hilly area a true paradise. Long cultivated by Cistercian monks, as early as the 19th century, the Grand Crus of Burgundy enjoyed extraordinary fame. In 1882, Chambolle joined its name to that of the famous Grand Cru of Musigny. The origins of the domaine date back to 1920, when Clément Tachot began cultivating the first vines. In 1950, it was his daughter Cécile, with her husband Jean Servelle, who founded the Domaine Servelle-Tachot, which would take the name Amiot-Servelle with the next generation.

This is a family domaine, which boasts an absolutely exceptional geographical location. The vineyard of Chambolle-Musigny includes as many as 24 Premier Cru and two Grand Cru and was recognized with the AOC in 1936, among the first in all of France. The vines are facing east, southeast, and are located at an altitude between 250 and 300 meters above sea level. The soils are predominantly limestone-based, with components of gravel and alluvial pebbles, which ensure excellent drainage and give the wines a profile of particular finesse and elegance. The climate is mild, cool, and breezy, with good temperature variations, ideal for the cultivation of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay for centuries.

The domaine extends over approximately seven hectares, located in the municipality of Chambolle-Musigny, to which an additional hectare of vineyard has been added with parcels in Morey-Saint-Denis, including the Grand Cru Clos Saint-Denis, and some vines in Gevrey-Chambertin with the Grand Cru Charmes-Chambertin. As per the tradition of the area, the region is particularly suited for red grape varieties, but Amiot Servelle also produces an excellent Chardonnay. The vines are planted at very high density with 10/12,000 plants per hectare, in order to produce with yields per plant very low. Few clusters of absolute quality. The domaine is managed under organic farming, in full respect of the environment.
