André Clouet

André Clouet is a prestigious Champagne Maison known for its sparkling wines that astonishingly combine structure and agility. We are in the Grand Cru village of Bouzy, in the Montagne de Reims area, the undisputed homeland of Pinot Noir. In this historically suited place, the André Clouet winery was founded in 1741, and after almost three centuries, the estate is still managed by the Clouet family, represented by André and his son Jean-François, who still manually oversee most of the agronomic and oenological operations.

The Champagne champenoise André Clouet has 10 hectares of vineyards, all classified as Grand Cru, planted on the typical chalky soils of Champagne. The beating heart of the production is Pinot Noir, accompanied secondarily by Chardonnay. The winemaking process combines traditional practices and technical innovation, as seen with the modern conical steel tanks designed by Jean-François himself. Fermentations occur spontaneously thanks to indigenous yeasts and are take place in conical steel tanks or used barriques, the same type of containers in which the aging phase occurs. The blending of vintage wines and vin de reserve is carried out meticulously, seeking the perfect balance that is always faithful to the Maison's style. After creating the sparkling base and the subsequent addition of liqueur de tirage for the second fermentation, the wines rest on the lees in the bottle for a period ranging from 36 months to over 10 years, depending on the sparkling wine in question. Essential for the winery is the care of the Solera method, which gives rise to a good part of the reserve wine.

The Champagnes of the Négociant Manipulant André Clouet are examples of class and elegance, endowed with a remarkable breadth and sensory depth, packaged with fascinating retro-style labels. One of the most representative and prestigious cuvées is the Blanc de Noirs ‘Un Jour de 1911’, a pure Pinot Noir at the top quality levels of Champagne.
