Apollonis

Champagne Apollonis Michel Loriot is a historic Maison located in Festigny, within the area of the Vallée de la Marne. The Loriot family has been present in these lands since the late 17th century and for 12 generations has been dedicated to grape cultivation. It was Léopold Loriot and his wife Palmyre Angelina Maximy who installed the first press in the village of Festigny in 1903, a piece of Champagne history, still preserved in the cellars of the Maison as a memory of the past. The domaine faced its first difficulties in the early 1900s, when the arrival of phylloxera in Champagne destroyed a large part of the vineyards, putting the entire production at risk. Leopold, taking inspiration from what was happening in Burgundy, was among the first to use the technique of grafting onto American rootstock, a remedy still used worldwide today.

The crisis of the 1920s, with grapes being paid less and less, led the Lorion family to decide to produce their own wines, and in 1931 the first bottles of Champagne with the Maison's label were released. The Subsequent generations continued on this path, and in 1977 Michel Loriot, with his wife Martine Pierson, founded the current Maison, combining his two great passions: Champagne and music. Convinced of the influence of music even in the plant world, Michel brought symphonies to the vineyards and the cellar, experimenting with a combination that, according to his intentions, should make the plants more resilient and provide more harmony and balance to the vineyard and consequently to the wines. Beethoven, Mozart, Brahms, Vivaldi thus became part of the world of Champagne, transferring the positive vibrations of music to the wine and contributing to the creation of a magical positive energy that envelops the entire processing process.

Today Michel and Martine are assisted in their work by their daughter Marie, an oenologist, and her husband Alban, responsible for production, who continue the adventure that began back in 1675. The domaine covers an area of seven hectares, divided into about twenty parcels. As is customary in the Vallée de la Marne, the vineyards are cultivated 80% with Pinot Meunier, 18% with
