Armorik

Specialized in the production of whisky from Brittany, the French producer Armorik manages to express the unique character of the region. The distillery was founded in 1900 by Léon Warenghem in Lannion, a town located on the picturesque Pink Granite Coast. Initially, the Warenghem family was dedicated to producing herbal liqueurs, particularly the Elixir d’Armorique, made with 35 different herbs and still marketed today by the distillery. Founder Léon was succeeded first by his son Henri and then by Paul-Henri, who continued the family tradition in liqueur production. In particular, in 1967 Paul-Henri joined forces with Yves Leizour and 7 years later, in 1974, the distillery was moved from the city center to the outskirts of Lannion, near the Rest Avel spring. In the early '80s, Gilles Leizour, son of Yves, took the reins of Armorik, deciding to produce the first Breton whisky, as well as the first French whisky ever. In 1993, the entire activity was directed towards the exclusive production of whisky, production inspired by the great Scottish distilleries. Today the distillery is successfully run by Gilles' son-in-law, David Roussier, who contributed to the creation of the Geographical Indication "Whisky Bretone" and has dedicated himself to expanding production volumes.

The whiskies of Armorik are produced from pure malted barley and wheat sourced from organic farms in Brittany and the rest of France. The water used comes from the nearby Rest Avel spring, which flows over granite rocks. After fermentation, double distillation is carried out using copper Pot Still and Spirit Still stills, followed by long aging in the maritime climate of Brittany in various types of casks, from Breton casks to ex-bourbon casks, including ex-sherry Oloroso casks. In addition to quality, the entire production of the distillery is based on environmental and social sustainability, a value pursued through the adoption of ecosystem-friendly practices and ensuring high quality standards.work.

With their soft and balanced style, the whiskies from the Armorik distillery represent a unique excellence in the world of spirits, awarded by international critics for their high quality that distinguishes them.
