Artist Collective
Artist Collective represents a beautiful project launched by the French brand La Maison du Whisky, aimed at the selection of some of the best Scottish whiskies produced in the most suitable regions for the production of this elegant distillate. The illustration of the labels has been entrusted to contemporary artists from different realities and experiences, each capable of bringing their personal touch to the bottles of Artist Collective. In general, these are scotch whiskies selected from a few casks and therefore produced in very limited quantities.
The scotch whiskies selected by the Artist Collective project come from the renowned regions of the Highlands, Islay, Strathspey, and the Islands. They are exclusively Single Malt, meaning whiskies produced from a single distillery starting from a single malted barley. After the malting process, yeast is inoculated for the alcoholic fermentation aimed at obtaining the so-called “wash”, which is then distilled in discontinuous copper Pot Still stills. Subsequently, the distillate is subjected to a long aging in oak casks that can last up to 20 years or more. Often, to further increase the complexity of the whisky, casks that previously contained other types of distillates or wines such as bourbon and sherry are used. The whiskies can finally be bottled with a slight dilution to make them more accessible or at cask strength, meaning “cask-strength”.
The Single Malt Scotch Whiskies selected by La Maison du Whisky for the Artist Collective project are characterized by their sublime elegance and expressive richness, derived both from the quality of the raw materials and the production process, as well as from the consolidated experience of historic distilleries such as Bunnahabhain, Glen Ord, Ben Nevis, Mortlach, and Caol Ila. Each distillery in each region has its own identity style, whether it is the briny soul of the peated whiskies from Islay or the softer character of those unpeated from the Highlands.
