Bartolo Mascarello is a legendary name in Barolo and all Langhe, a small producer who has written the history of the denomination. Today, the winery is led by his daughter Maria Teresa who carries on an artisanal production among which stands out, like a diamond, a single label of Barolo that, as tradition dictates, combines several crus in a single bottle. The philosophy with which it is produced has remained unchanged over the years and is firmly based on safeguarding the ancient traditions of the territory, in contrast to the international taste and common expressions such as "the taste of barrique", to use the critical words of the great winemaker.

Mascarello's winery was founded in 1919 when Giulio, a veteran of the First World War, returned to his home town of Barolo and decided to set up his own winery, abandoning the wine growers' cooperative. His flair and expertise led him to purchase, with considerable sacrifices, small portions of vineyards, located in particularly suitable areas: in Cannubi, San Lorenzo and Ruè. In the 1960s, his son Bartolo, ex-partisan and mayor of Barolo, joined the winery. With his personality, he marked a decisive turning point in production, developing an autonomous, original and traditional style, without indulging in the French fashion which wanted separate vinification per vineyard, remaining, as he liked to define himself, "traditionalist in wine and progressive in politics". Today, the family estate has only 5 hectares of vineyards, with Freisa and Dolcetto complementing the 3 dedicated to Nebbiolo, from which just under 15,0000 thousand bottles are made, and which are contended by wine enthusiasts all over the world.

Bartolo Mascarello's wine stands as a great and timeless classic of the Langhe: a label that has entered the history of Italian oenology. Mythological and stubbornly against the fashions of the moment, Bartolo Mascarello's Barolo has gone down in history as the wine of intellectuals, of critical consciences, loved by enthusiasts, experts and critics but also by high-profile intellectuals such as Norberto Bobbio, Mario Rigoni Stern, Nuto Revelli, Giulio Einaudi and, most recently, Carlo Petrini. Extraordinary, powerful and velvety, Bartolo Mascarello's Barolo is a monument of the Langhe, a bottle that embodies the history of the territory.

"Il recupero critico della nostra cultura locale, l’esperienza accumulata è punto di partenza irrinunciabile per essere protagonisti e non servi delle mode imposte dalle multinazionali del vino"
