Ben Nevis Distillery

The Ben Nevis Distillery is located at Lochy Bridge, near West William, heart of the western Highlands. The distillery sits at the foot of Ben Nevis mountain, whose peak reaches 1,345 meters above sea level. The Ben Nevis distillery has a very ancient history. It was founded back in 1825 by John McDonald and over the years has changed many owners. Since 1989 it has been under the control of Nikka Whisky Distilling from Tokyo, the most famous and prestigious distillery in Japan. The privileged geographical location allows the distillery to rely on the crystal-clear waters of the Allt a'Mhuilinn, ideal for lowering the strength of the spirits while maintaining their original purity.

The Ben Nevis Distillery is especially famous for two labels: the Ben Nevis 10 Year Old Single Malt Whisky and the blended Whisky “Nevis Dew Blue Label” Ben Nevis. Two Whiskies that very well represent the personality of the Highland spirits with an elegant, soft, and complex style. They are Whiskies with a classic face, that underline the great respect for the tradition and the attachment to the historical roots of the Ben Nevis distillery. Precisely for these characteristics of finesse, harmony, and balance, they are Whiskies very loved by enthusiasts and connoisseurs, but also by those who are approaching the world of Whisky to discover its secrets and nuances. The fresh, easy, and enveloping sip makes the tasting particularly pleasant and satisfying.

The secret of Ben Nevis Whisky is simple and lies in the excellence of the base ingredients. The highest quality barley, the pure water that passes through rocky layers, and the famous peat bogs of Scotland. This is how exceptional Whiskies are born, produced in a way that respects customs, thanks to the perfect synthesis of centuries-old traditions passed down from generation to generation, with the natural elements of a wonderful, wild, and unspoiled environment of the Highlands. The connection of the Ben Nevis Distillery with the new Japanese ownership has led to a gradual increase in exports to the market of the Rising Sun, which today absorbs about a third of the production.
