Bodega Cerron

Bodega Cerron is the concrete testimony that Spanish viticulture is also moving in the productive direction that we are most fond of: enhancing the territory, complete conversion to organic farming, and a constant gaze towards the future. They themselves proudly and consciously declare to be "the new generation of the old world of wine": a strong but responsible message that aims to voluntarily close the bridges with a past too constrained by the narrow confines dictated by the wine industry and to return to the drinker authentic territorial wines.

The hectares of vineyard owned by Bodega Cerron - currently 30 - inhabit the warm and wild land of La Mancha, in southern Spain, a region not only known for the adventures of Don Quixote but for the endless expanses of sand, combined with gypsum and silt, where the goblet-trained vines find an ideal habitat, thanks to the absence of pests and diseases that these poor soils ensure. Here, where altitudes reach 800 meters, where yields are low, but the final quality is high, local varieties such as Monastrell and Tempranillo alternate with international ones, such as Chardonnay, Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon. The production area within which the vineyards of Bodega Cerron are located falls entirely within the DO - Denominación de Origen Jumilla, one of the oldest in all of Spain, in existence since 1966. It is worth noting that the cultivation of the vine has been documented in this area since Roman times, because the Castilla La Mancha region has always enjoyed a natural vocation for such cultivation.

Since its inception, Bodega Cerron believes that the only way to do true and authentic viticulture is to start from a respectful approach towards the surrounding nature; this is why they have worked diligently and consistently to receive organic certification, starting in 1995. The harvest is carried out exclusively by hand and in the cellar, to activate the fermentations, only the naturally present yeasts on the skins are used, thus keeping alive in the final glass the real aromas of the variety used and the area of origin. This new generation of winemakers from La Mancha seems to have started off on the right foot, giving us these expressions of rich and vibrant territoriality!
