Bragagni
The Bragagni winery is a small family-run business located in the countryside of Brisighella, in the province of Ravenna. The estate was founded in 1998, when Andrea Bragagni decided to dedicate himself with great passion to his land, with the intent of creating a production of wines with a genuine character that can express the territory in a direct, simple, and authentic way. The vineyards are located in a particularly suited area characterized by a completely unspoiled natural ecosystem, situated near the Regional Park of Vena del Gesso. The area occupies the deep hinterland of Faenza, rising towards the first hilly ridges of the Apennines at the border between Emilia-Romagna and Tuscany.
Brisighella is an ancient village of medieval origins, in the heart of a natural landscape rich in biodiversity, with the presence of large wooded areas. In harmony with these peculiar characteristics, Andrea Bragagni decided to manage his estate inspired by the idea of sustainable agriculture, without resorting to chemical weeding or to synthetic substances for treatments. The vines are located at an altitude of 350 meters above sea level, in an area with a cool and sunny climate, with good temperature variations. The soils are predominantly sandy with the presence of limestone and deeper layers of galestro. For the choice of grape varieties to cultivate, Andrea relied on tradition, favoring those historically present in these lands: Albana and Trebbiano for the whites, Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon for the reds. A special space is reserved for Famoso, an indigenous white grape variety rediscovered and reevaluated only in recent times.
The work within the vineyard is carried out manually until harvest. All attention is directed towards obtaining a raw material that meets the highest quality criteria, with the awareness that only from healthy and perfectly ripe grapes can great wines be born. The management of the plants is done with short pruning and very low yields, to achieve better aromatic concentration. The vinifications take place in a very simple and with minimal oenological intervention, in order to preserve the varietal notes of the various grape varieties. Even the aging processes are very respectful of the wine, using stainless steel tanks or used wooden barrels, which do not impart woody notes.
