Meanwhile, Alexander specializes in qualitative development and in searching for the best barrels from Europe, South America, and even Asia and Australia in which to age the scotch whiskies of Brave New Spirits. The whiskies selected by Brave New Spirits, produced from pure malted barley, come from the famous regions of the Highlands, the Lowlands, and Speyside. For long aging, the Brave New Spirits team uses barrels of oak often previously used for the maturation of bourbon or sherry, which contribute to the expressive depth of the whiskies, but also French barriques previously used for the refinement of Cognac and wines. The aging phase obviously takes place in Scotland, where the peculiar conditions of temperature and humidity allow for an optimal sensory evolution of the distillate. The selection of Brave New Spirits includes peated and unpeated scotch whiskies, single malt or blended, divided into different lines such as ‘Lighthouse’ and ‘The Highland Shepherd’. These are soft and complex spirits that reflect the characteristics of their respective regions of origin.
