Bruno Colin
Bruno Colin represents one of the faces of Burgundian excellence, a winemaker who, after graduating from the prestigious Wine School of Beaune, began to assist his father and brothers in managing the family Domaine Michel Colin-Deleger. As often happens in Burgundy, in 2003 the estate was divided into three distinct wineries: Domaine Michel Colin-Deleger, Domaine Philippe Colin, and, indeed, Domaine Bruno Colin. In 2004 he then inaugurated his first vintage, and over the following years he established himself with his name in the wine scene of the Côte de Beaune thanks to elegant and refined wines. Bruno's goal is to offer the purest and "simplest" expression of the noble territory he cultivates, a territory that needs no sophistication or correction.
The vineyards owned by Bruno Colin extend over just under 9 hectares, spread across 22 different plots within some of the most prestigious AOCs of the Côte de Beaune, such as Chassagne-Montrachet, Puligny-Montrachet, Bâtard-Montrachet, Chevalier-Montrachet, and Saint-Aubin, but also Santenay and Maranges. The production philosophy embraced by Bruno aims to bring out the identity character of each climat with its multiple facets. As is traditional for the Côte de Beaune, Chardonnay is the flagship variety of the Domaine, grown on clay-limestone soils according to a sustainable approach, and is accompanied by a smaller quantity of the other quintessential Burgundian grape: Pinot Noir. The harvest is carried out entirely by hand by a team of over 40 people, and in the winery, cutting-edge technologies are used for vinifications, executed according to traditional techniques. Generally, the whites ferment and mature in oak barrels, 20-25% of which are new, while the red grapes are destemmed, fermented in steel tanks, and then left to mature in oak barrels, also in this case 20-25% of which are new.
In order to preserve the wine as much as possible from oxidation, since 2013 Bruno Colin has begun to apply a wax coating on most of the corks of his labels, which consist of Chardonnay mineral, precise, and refined and rich and elegant Pinot Noir.
