Ca' del Conte

The Ca' del Conte project took off in 2003 from the idea of Paolo and Martina Macconi to produce artisanal and expressive wines, respecting the territory of origin. A project that takes shape on the sweet and lush hills of Oltrepò Pavese, in the municipality of Rivanazzano Terme, bordering the Colli Tortonesi and the city of Alessandria. In short, we are talking about that small strip of land contested between Lombardia and Piemonte, where for some years this winery has been shining with its 20 hectares of surface, of which 16 are planted with vines. A truly evocative area, rich in charm, tradition, and history, made fertile by the presence of the Po River, the marl and clay composition of the soil, and the valuable exposures and microclimates. It is no coincidence that here the two noblest grape varieties in the world are cultivated: Riesling, in its Italic version, and Pinot Nero, the star of French Burgundy. The Ca' del Conte winery knows these two varieties well and, alongside plots of Chardonnay and Pinot Bianco, cultivates them with an extremely sensitive and respectful approach towards nature, producing wines full of character, originality, and territoriality.

The vines, strong, robust, and healthy, are grassed and cultivated according to the principles of biodynamics, in total absence of chemical and synthetic substances, such as herbicides, pesticides, and insecticides. A path that leads to obtaining grapes rich in aromas and flavors, which still preserve on their skins the famous indigenous yeasts that will catalyze the fermentations in the winery. In fact, we are talking about spontaneous fermentations, without inoculations of selected yeasts, accompanied by long and vigorous macerations. Only in this way do Martina and Paolo obtain rich and vigorous expressions, at times surprising and out of the ordinary, but also summaries of grape and territory.

that pulse, throb, and live from their humble and generous land!
