Cantina di Trento
The Cantina Sociale di Trento was founded in 1956 through the initiative of 11 Trentino winegrowers, united by the goal of enhancing their grapes and approaching the market with greater confidence. From the very beginning, the cooperative aimed to combine agricultural tradition with wine quality, placing the direct experience of its members and respect for the land at the center. Today, around 400 members have joined the project, each managing small vineyards located on the hills surrounding Trento, where sunny exposure and varied soils promote slow grape ripening, resulting in elegant and complex wines.
The vineyards of Cantina Sociale di Trento cover approximately 650 hectares. The main white grape varieties include Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio, Müller Thurgau, Sauvignon, and Gewürztraminer, while the prominent red varieties are Merlot, Lagrein, Pinot Nero, Marzemino, and Teroldego. Cultivation focuses on limited yields to enhance grape quality, and harvesting is done by hand. The winemakers follow careful practices, from precise pruning to meticulous soil management, to preserve vine health and produce wines that best express the terroir. A portion of the vineyards is cultivated organically, using sustainable methods that protect the environment and promote plant vitality.
In the winery, the grapes of Cantina Sociale di Trento are carefully selected and vinified with temperature-controlled fermentation to enhance aroma and freshness. White wines primarily mature in stainless steel to preserve elegance and vibrancy, while reds are aged in both steel and wood, achieving structure and harmony with finely integrated tannins. Among the cooperative’s main labels are the classic method Zell, the Heredia line offering whites and reds with great personality, and the mountain wines Santa Colomba, which convey the unique microclimates of higher altitudes. Every bottle from Cantina Sociale di Trento is the result of passion, care, and respect for the land, an invitation to discover the authentic wines of the Trentino mountains.
