Carupano
The Rum Carupano is an excellence of the great Venezuelan tradition. Its origins are ancient and date back to 1762, when the Spanish Captain Félix del Fierro founded the first core of the company in the Macarapana Valley, under the name of Altamira. Thanks to the quality of its products, the distillery soon distinguished itself in the international landscape, and in 1954 the Destilería Carupano, C.A was officially founded, which still today represents one of the highest expressions of Venezuelan rum. Over the centuries, it has always remained focused on achieving the highest quality, thanks to carefully selected raw materials and processing methods inspired by the best Caribbean traditions.
The distillation process takes place under the attentive and competent gaze of Master Blender Carmen López Bastidas, who for over thirty years has passionately followed the creation of all the products of the Destilería Carupano. Her extraordinary talent allows her to blend the distillates with great mastery, in order to achieve a final result that is always very harmonious. The excellence of Rum Carupano is also based on the exceptional quality of the pure and light spring water, which is used to lower the base alcohol content. The Distillery is located within the ancient Hacienda Altamira, in the Macarapana-Carupano valley, in an area with a warm and humid microclimate, influenced by the mild breezes of the Caribbean Sea, which favor a rapid and excellent maturation of the Rums, with the development of rich, soft, and complex aromas.
Since its foundation, the Distillery has always marketed aged Rums in wooden barrels imported from Europe, previously used for the aging of fine wines. Even today, Carupano pays great attention to the choice of woods. The American white oak barrels, already used for Bourbon, contribute to imparting aromatic complexity to the distillates. The labels of the Destilería Carupano offer a range of rums of extraordinary quality, the result of over two centuries of experience. Bottles
