Casamigos

Casamigos is what happens when friends on vacation in Mexico set out to create the perfect sip of the Tequila they love so much. If those two friends are George Clooney and Rande Gerber, what emerges from a simple idea is one of the most interesting spirit productions of recent years. The convivial vocation of Casamigos is already evident from its name, a House of Friends, where the passion for the Mexican tradition of good drinking and good living is shared. Thus began a long and patient journey of continuous tastings and improvements, which from summer evenings sipping Tequila in good company led to an almost confidential production of excellence.

The story of Casamigos originates in the western highlands of the Mexican state of Jalisco, where the rich red clay soil hosts the cultivation of blue agave. The plants over 5 years old are then selected and hand-trimmed to obtain the piña, the sugary heart of the agave. The piñas are subsequently gently cooked in masonry ovens for over 72 hours, unlike the traditional 7 hours of roasting of the major regional distilleries. Even for fermentation, Casamigos stands out for its patient waiting, almost double compared to the traditional process. At the end of the aging period, which takes place in steel or American oak barrels depending on the variety, George and Rande “sign” their labels as a mark of approval.

Casamigos tells of patient perfectionism, which sip by sip has given rise to soft and balanced bottles, enjoyable both mixed in cocktails and on the rocks, without the need to mask the taste with lime or salt. The recognition of international awards did not take long, consecrating Casamigos spirits among the most atypical and promising productions in the landscape of Mexican spirits. The story of Casamigos is a reverse adventure: started from the desire to have the perfect drink to enjoy in good company on summer evenings and reaching to spread to the public the relaxed andauthentic of a Mexican vacation.
