Cellier Saint Benoit
Cellier Saint Benoit is now an iconic winery in Pupillin, in the northern sector of Jura. It stands in a rugged yet bright territory, now among the most sought-after areas in the wine world. The Benoit family has been cultivating vines for four generations, and in the early 2000s, Denis Benoit decided to focus all his energy on the vineyard and the winery, leaving other crops behind and officially founding the ‘domaine’. Today, the baton has passed to Benjamin Benoit, who has trained and honed his skills through experiences in Burgundy and New Zealand alongside vignerons like Nicolas Faure, Aurélie Berthod, and Charles Lachaux. His approach is a continuity that does not replicate the past, but interprets it with an educated and contemporary gaze, capable of giving Jura a personal and recognizable voice.
blue, gray, red, and white. The grapes are pressed whole-cluster with an ancient vertical wooden press, traditional to the Arbois area. No technical shortcuts, no stylistic forcing: spontaneous fermentations, aging in old foudres and cuves, total absence of clarifications and filtrations, leading to a manual gravity bottling that closes the circle of work focused on returning pure fruit.
In the glass, the wines of Cellier Saint Benoit deliver a crystalline and vibrant interpretation of the great grape varieties of Jura: Chardonnay, Savagnin, Ploussard, and Trousseau are expressed with precision, care, and great depth. Freshness and mineral tension are always at the center of the sip, supported by a fine, never-extractive taste structure, capable of combining depth and momentum. These are wines that speak softly, but with impressive clarity, offering sharp aromatic details and a territorial fidelity that moves without the need for artifice. It is no surprise that Benjamin Benoit was named Vigneron de l’Année in 2021: a recognition that confirms
