Château Haut Gléon
Chateau Haut Gléon is a winemaking reality in the Languedoc-Roussillon region that has established itself in the South of France for a guarantee of quality reiterated over time. This winery was born within the famous wine cooperative “Les Vignobles Foncalieu” which covers 4000 hectares of vineyards distributed in the heart of Languedoc, from the Corbières massifs to the Mediterranean coast. In 2012, they took ownership of Chateau Haut Gléon with the idea of further rooting themselves in the territory, transforming this place of ancient origin into a jewel of viticulture in Languedoc. It is indeed a historic building dating back to the 13th century with suggestive architectural beauty, as well as landscape beauty, which since the renovation of 2012 has also been equipped with a welcoming space, allowing more and more people to enjoy this little corner of paradise.
Controlled Origin Appellation Corbières. This reality extends over a total of 260 hectares, of which only 35 are planted with vines, characterized by clay and limestone soils rich in pebbles and a cool microclimate with excellent temperature variations between day and night. Walking among the rows, one can breathe in the scents of rosemary, thyme, and aromatic herbs, sensations that are also recognizable in the final glass: concentrates of Mediterranean essence! The varieties cultivated are essentially those typical of the territory, Grenache Blanc, Roussanne, Marsanne for white grapes, and Syrah, Carignan, and Grenache Nera for red grapes. The agriculture practiced in the vineyard is raisonnée, as they like to call it, which literally means reasoned, in balance with the needs of nature and in full respect of the land. In the winery, the winemaking operations, led by winemaker Gabriel Ruetsch, aim to enhance this small piece of land bordering the Pyrenees as much as possible, focusing on typical blends and on aging in carefully selected woods based onthe type they intend to create from time to time. Quality is no longer exclusively the domain of small realities; this enological gem owned by Les Vignobles Foncalieu is a striking example.
