Château La Fleur-Pétrus

Château La Fleur-Petrus is one of the most prestigious estates in the Pomerol area. It is a historic property, named after the ancient designation of the two lieux-dits, Petrus and La Fleur, where its vineyards are located. Jean-Pierre Moueix, after settling in Libourne in 1937, purchased Château La Fleur-Pétrus in 1950. The vineyard extends over nearly 19 hectares, in one of the most prestigious and famous areas of the right bank of the Bordeaux region. Always faithful to the best traditions of the territory and its history, it produces wines of extraordinary elegance and harmony, capable of expressing the finesse and aromatic complexity of this magnificent terroir at the highest levels.

The AOC Pomerol is located between Saint-Émilion and the city of Libourne. It is one of the smallest denominations in the region, but among the most qualitative, cradle of some of the most famous and precious wines in the world. The vineyards of Pomerol are cultivated on a plateau, which slopes down with a series of terraces towards the valley of the Isle river, a few kilometersof the estuary of the Gironde. The soils are predominantly clay-based, rich in alluvial pebbles and sedimentations of iron minerals known as "crasse de fer", very suitable for red grape varieties and in particular for Merlot. The grape variety expresses itself at the highest levels, with wines that are not only rich, harmonious, and powerful, but also elegant and extremely refined.

The Château La Fleur-Pétrus estate is located at an altitude of about 35-40 meters above sea level. The climate is mild and breezy, influenced by the presence of the wide estuary of the Gironde and the proximity of the Atlantic Ocean, which help to make the temperatures milder and to avoid the danger of spring frosts. The vineyard is cultivated for over 90% with Merlot, which gives the wine fruity softness and pleasant taste, the rest with Cabernet Franc, which contributes to give freshness and finesse and with a small percentage of Petit Verdot, which adds spicy nuances and tannins. The skillful blending of the three grape varieties allows for the creation ofreds of extraordinary charm, a reference point for every enthusiast.
