Chiesina di Lacona

Chiesina di Lacona is a young winery on the Island of Elba, founded by Filippo Alampi in 2019. Despite its recent establishment, it is deeply rooted in the family's farming past. The estate was purchased by Filippo's great-grandfather in the post-war period. For many years, the property was managed as a mixed farm, and it was only in the 1970s that a true conversion to specialized viticulture began. However, it was only with Filippo's entry into the business that a profound renewal began. The desire to enhance the region's excellence led to the rationalization of the facilities with the aim of focusing decisively on quality viticulture.

The history of vine cultivation on the Island of Elba has ancient origins. The Etruscans, settled in Populonia, had already discovered the island's valuable mineral resources, particularly the possibility of extracting iron-rich rocks. It was most likely they who introduced the culture of viticulture. The vine tradition has beenpassed down without interruption through the centuries, although the presence of many other famous areas in Tuscany has always somewhat overshadowed the production of the islands in the archipelago. In reality, the Island of Elba offers ideal conditions for viticulture, thanks to a mild and breezy climate and the presence of suitable soils, composed of decomposed schist rocks and sands.

The estate is located in the municipal territory of Capoliveri, in the area of the Gulf of Lacona, and covers an area of about twenty hectares, about half of which are vineyards. The vineyards are cultivated just 200 meters from the sea, with varieties historically present in this area: Ansonica, Vermentino, and Procanico for white grapes, and Aleatico and Sangiovese for red grapes. The agronomic management is inspired by the principles of organic farming, in full respect of an ecosystem that remains untouched. The range of wines is the result of very simple vinifications, carried out with the utmost respect for the grapes, with the sole aim of enhancing theauthentic qualities of the terroir.
