Bergaglio Cinzia

Founding its production vision on sustainability and the rational use of technology, the winery of Cinzia Bergaglio finely interprets the enological essence of the Gavi territory. For many years, the Bergaglio family has been committed to viticulture in Tassarolo, a municipality in the province of Alessandria located in the northern part of the Gavi production area. Currently, the productive engine of the winery is represented by Cinzia and her husband Massimo, at the helm since 2002, supported by their young children Mattia and Michela. The labels are illustrated by the artist Tamara Repetto through a three-dimensional elaboration that represents the stones of which the vineyards of the property are particularly rich.

The vineyards of the Bergaglio Cinzia estate are spread over 9 hectares between the municipalities of Tassarolo and Gavi and are characterized by the clay-limestone matrix of the soils, also endowed with tuff veins and a high presence of stones. The Cortese, the flagship grape of the winery, is accompanied by other traditional grapes such as the Barbera and Dolcetto. All these varieties are cultivated with low environmental impact treatments, also adopting techniques such as green manure and green harvesting, with pruning aimed at limiting the yields in grapes per hectare. After harvesting, the bunches are transferred to the winery and subjected to a gentle pressing using a horizontal press. The fermentations take place in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures through the inoculation of selected yeasts, which ensure a constant and optimal course of the fermentation process. The wines remain to mature for several months, often on the fine lees with periodic batonnage. Before bottling, the filtration operation is finally carried out, aimed at promoting the stability of the wine.

As mentioned, the variety around which the production of the Cinzia Bergaglio winery revolves is the Cortese, interpreted according to different types and styles, such as still white, sparkling, and passito. The most representative expressions remain, however, the Gavi ‘Grifone delle Roveri’ and ‘La Fornace’, whites endowed with a gentle and graceful character capable of reflecting the most typical attributes of the grape variety.
