Col Vetoraz
Among the beautiful hills of Valdobbiadene lies the Venetian sparkling wine house Col Vetoraz, dedicated to the production of finely crafted bubbles through the constant pursuit of three main attributes: balance, harmony, and elegance. We are precisely at the summit of the hill of Santo Stefano di Valdobbiadene, one of the highest points in the famous Cartizze area, where since 1838 the Miotto family has lovingly and passionately committed to producing great wines.
The Col Vetoraz winery manages approximately 20 hectares of Glera vines located at almost 400 meters above sea level on the foothills of the Conegliano Valdobbiadene hilly system. The plants rest on soils of limestone and silica origin, rich in skeleton, and enjoy a cool and sunny climate characterized by significant temperature variations between day and night, a factor that allows the grapes to preserve freshness and accumulate a large amount of aromatic precursors. The harvests, carried out strictly by hand, are accompanied by a rigorous selection of the bunches and precede parcel vinifications, which allow for the evaluation of the potential of each batch so as to choose the most suitable blend each time. During the processing, which takes place according to the Charmat Method, the masses undergo no invasive treatment, in order to maintain the aromatic expression of the Glera intact.
The production of Col Vetoraz consists of various Valdobbiadene DOCG and Valdobbiadene Superiore di Cartizze DOCG, top-quality designations in the vast and articulated world of Prosecco. In fact, these DOCGs identify the historic area of Prosecco, the most vocated one, where viticulture has been practiced for over 800 years. The significant difference between the wines produced here and those made in a generic area of Prosecco is often not so well understood, which is why Col Vetoraz decided in 2017 to remove the term “Prosecco” from all its labels, thus enhancing the extraordinary vocation of its area of origin: Valdobbiadene.
