Curado
Curado is a famous Mexican brand known for the quality of its spirits and the originality of its packaging. Each creation is indeed offered in a slender and elongated bottle, screen-printed with the image of a colorful animal inspired by the dreamlike world of alebrijes, imaginary animals created by the imagination of Mexican artist Pedro Linares, which connect the world of the living with that of the dead, according to many ancient Mexican folk beliefs. A peculiarity that makes Curado unmistakable and its bottles strongly linked to the history of the territory. The agave is an ancient plant that has existed on earth for 12 million years and has always played an important role within the world of Mesoamerican populations: the piña was cooked and eaten, the dried fibers were used to produce ropes, fabrics, and the fermented agave juice, Pulque, was perhaps the first alcoholic beverage on the American continent.
In Mexico, many spirits are produced, Tequila, Mezcal, Raicilla, all made starting from the processing of of agave, which differ from each other by the type of plant variety used. To prepare Curado, a base of white Tequila from the highlands of the Jalisco region is used. In the distillate, pieces of cooked agave are infused. Initially, only the Blue quality plant was used, but it has since been joined by other varieties. Today, the brand produces spirits with: Blue Weber from Arandas, Espadín from Oaxaca, and Cupreata from Michoacán. Each type of agave is processed according to the traditional techniques of the regions of origin and with different proportions between Tequila and cooked agave, in order to preserve the oldest recipes and the authenticity of each individual territory.
Curado was born from the union of three families: Estes, Camarena, and Vantguard. The brand's inspiration comes from the term Curados, which refers to Pulques flavored with pineapple, coconut, coffee beans, and other natural aromas. To this Mexican tradition, the custom of bartenders around the world to use in their preparations has been added,
spices, herbs, and fruits to enrich the taste of their cocktails or long drinks. The final result was the creation of a Tequila with cooked agave, which while respecting the typical character of the distillate, is richer, more intense, and complex. A sort of evolution of classic Tequila, which respects ancient customs with an innovative touch.
