Dampt Daniel

The Domaine Daniel Dampt boasts over 150 years of wine history linked to the territory of Chablis, an area located at the northernmost tip of Burgundy, near the town of Auxerre. The Dampt family has always managed the winery at a family level, and today the young brothers Vincent and Sébastien Dampt are at the helm, drawing on the advice of their father Daniel and grandfather Jean Defaix, Daniel's father-in-law, with whom he officially founded the current estate in 1950, carrying on the family wine tradition.

The hectares available to Domaine Daniel Dampt are 24, of which 10 are located in Chablis Premier Cru vineyards, 12 in plots classified as Chablis, and the remaining 2 in the Petit Chablis area. Additionally, under the Maison Dampt brand, the estate also markets bottles of Chablis Grand Cru as a negociant. The rows, cultivated according to sustainable agriculture, are planted in the typical clay and limestone soils of the Kimmeridgian type, particularly rich in marine fossils. The only variety cultivated from the Domaine is Chardonnay, the undisputed sovereign of the Chablis territory, a grape variety that benefits from various hillside exposures and the influence of the Serein river that flows through the denomination area. In the winery, alcoholic fermentation takes place at controlled temperatures in stainless steel tanks, usually with complete malolactic fermentation also occurring, and the wines remain to mature for several months in steel, thus avoiding the use of woods that would alter the territorial expression.

The range of labels from Domaine Daniel Dampt includes prestigious Premier Crus such as ‘Côte de Léchet’, ‘Vaillons’, ‘Fourchaume’, ‘Les Lys’ and ‘Beauroy’, each endowed with a peculiar and identity character. Completing the selection are the Chablis Grand Cru ‘Bougros’ and the Chablis “classic”, coming from a blend of old and young vine grapes, as well as Petit Chablis, the more accessible expression from plots with different characteristics. In general, these are fresh, sharp and mineral, not lacking a certain softness that emerges especially a few years after the harvest.
