The Domaine Jerome Chezeaux is located in Premeaux-Prissey, a small village near Nuits-St-Georges. Its origins date back to the 1930s and in 1971 it was bought by the Chezeaux family, who created the Domaine Bernard Chezeaux. In 1993, the property came under the control of Jérôme Chezeaux, who permanently changed the name of the estate to Domaine Jerome Chezeaux. The property is located in the magnificent Côte de Nuits region and covers a total area of 12 hectares, divided into various cultivated plots in the famous communes of: Premeaux-Prissey, Nuits-St-Georges, Vosne-Romanée and Vougeot. It is a mosaic of highly prestigious vineyards, home to some of the most famous and highly rated appellations in the entire Burgundy region.
Jerome Chezeaux manages the domaine according to the ancient customs learned from his father and perfected through his studies in oenology at the Lycée Viticole de Beaune. The vineyards are managed according to the traditions of the area, with high planting density and low yields, so as to create a strong competition between the plants and grapes of the highest quality with rich and concentrated aromas. Vinification is carried out in a simple way, trying to respect the exceptional quality of the raw material as much as possible, with enological interventions reduced to a minimum. The result is wines with a typically territorial face, capable of bringing to the glass the infinite nuances of Burgundy, which for centuries has been attentive to enhancing and exalting the small differences between the various plots with vinification and bottling dedicated to each vineyard.
The extreme fragmentation of the surface area of the domaine allows Jerome to offer wines from no less than 14 different appellations. For all the Village, 1er Crus and Grands Crus appellations, the harvest is carried out manually, with selection of the best grapes in the vineyard. The grapes undergo a cold maceration for a few days and then undergo fermentation with maceration on the skins for 2 to 3 weeks. The wines mature for 18 or 24 months, using 1/3 new French oak barrels and the rest already used. The wines of Nuits-Saint-Georges are structured, characterised by intense, complex aromas and an important tannic texture. Vosne-Romanée offers reds of extraordinary elegance and finesse, with delicate aromas and silky tannins. Finally, the wines of Clos de Vougeot are harmonious and sophisticated, with considerable intensity and aromatic persistence.
