Domaine Les 4 Vents

Domaine Les 4 Vents is an artisanal winery in the Northern Rhône that embraces a production philosophy oriented towards the ideal marriage of modernity and tradition. At the helm of the Domaine, located in the commune of Mercurol, just 4 kilometres east of Tain-l'Hermitage, are sisters Lucie and Nancy Fourel, young and passionate winemakers who have taken up and elevated the family tradition. In fact, their parents and grandparents before them were winegrowers and farmers who sold their grapes to large local producers. In 2006, Lucie began managing a few hectares of vineyards, making her first harvest in 2010, while in 2013, her sister Nancy joined her in managing the Domaine. Today, in addition to the vines Lucie and Nancy cultivate apricots, another family tradition carried on by the two sisters.

Within the 10 hectares of vineyards on which Domaine Les 4 Vents spreads, planted on predominantly clay and limestone soils, Lucie and Nancy cultivate almost exclusively Syrah, the black berry variety that is the symbol of the terroir, alongside one hectare of the local white grapes Roussanne and Marsanne. Lucie and Nancy firmly embrace an agronomic vision based on true respect for the environment and the expression of terroir, thus following the dictates of organic and biodynamic agriculture. The same genuine approach is adopted in the cellar, where vinification takes place without the use of invasive inputs such as selected yeasts, enzymes and other oenological aids. For ageing, the sisters Lucie and Nancy use both stainless steel tanks and wooden barrels of several passages, so as not to alter the varietal and territorial expression in any way.

Crozes-Hermitage represents the symbolic wine of Domaine Les 4 Vents, interpreted in different styles, both in white and especially in red, with the aim of revealing the many nuances of the terroir. In general, the Syrahs are striking for their pulpy and complex taste, with great impact, while the whites stand out for their softness and expressive depth.
