The Domaine Milan is located in a place called La Vielle Tuillière, 2 kilometers from Saint-Remy-de-Provence, at the foot of the "Alpilles", a mountainous area north of Marseille and the Camargue. The Domaine owns 17 hectares of vineyards; it is an area in gentle slope, exposed to the Mediterranean sea, which creates a situation climatic optimum, with a marl soil on limestone debris. The story begins in 1956 when the Domaine Robert Milan buy these lands and begins two years later, to plant Chardonnay, Grenache Blanc and Granache noir, Syrah, Mourvedre and all other typical varieties of the region. Robert is a simple "récoltant", ie producer of grapes is sold to "vignerons" area for wine-making, and in 1973 he decided to take the plunge and become even "manipoulant", ie to make wine himself his own grapes . In 1986 Henry, son of Robert, who returned from military service, takes control of the company and in 1996 knows two characters which give an important boost to his business, Claude Bourguignon, experienced agronomist, and Claude Courtois, well-known and important producer. They are the ones to convince Henry to adopt a more modern and more "naturalist" of the profession of "vigneron", which places man in a symbiosis with the vineyard and the surrounding nature, excluding the use of chemicals. The "biodynamic Triple A" becomes the credo of Henry, who in 2007 voluntarily leave the AOC Baux-de-Provence, producing wines strictly biodynamic. Wines produced by Henry are original and complex, in harmony they created the mix of grape varieties gives a finesse that is found, perhaps, only in the wines of Burgundy.
