Domaine Robert-Denogent
The Domaine Robert-Denogent is located on the border of the Macconais area in Burgundy. The winery was founded by Jean Jacques Robert, who, after obtaining a law degree, decided to take over the 5 hectares of vineyards from his father, which until then had exclusively produced grapes destined for social cooperatives. Since then, the project of defending old vines and the terroir has begun, allowing each label to express the characteristics of its land of origin. Fate had it that, not far from his vineyards, Marcel Lapierre was working, gradually spreading his sustainable viticulture, eliminating the use of chemicals in the vineyard. These were the first attempts to produce natural wines, which instantly captivated Jean Jaques.
The wines of Domaine Robert-Denogent are the true essence of their territory and are produced with a sustainable approach. The grapes, grown on soils rich in granite and sand, are exclusively hand-harvested and vinified using classic Burgundian practices and the sole use of indigenous yeasts that lead to spontaneous fermentations. Malolactic fermentation occurs in barriques of second or third passage for a period of up to 18 months on the fine lees.
Domaine Robert-Denogent is a winery that literally pampers its small plots of land, with a maniacal respect, particularly due to the presence of vines over 70 years old, still perfectly healthy. Following the natural philosophy, they also proceed with cover cropping between the rows, so that nutrients, in case of deficiency, can be provided by the spontaneously grown herbaceous plants. For several years now, the children of Jean Jaques have also been involved in their father's project: Nicolas, with his reflective character, and Antoine, a smiling solid-built boy, perfectly manage to maintain production at the highest levels, expressing all the complexity, authenticity, and intensity of this wonderful territory.
